When this couple came to our church, we tried to encourage them if at all possible to go back to the church they had been going to last year. On the part of Juan and the way that they had treated him, they did talk to the pastor and ackowledged that he was right on the issue of unequal yoke. They prayed about the whole situation and decided it was the right decision to come to our church. We also met with the pastor. If they won't go back there, we all agreed its best if they are in a good church that is sound in doctrine.

Jonathan and Rebecca

Hi, my name is Mayra and my husband's name is Juan (John). We have been married now for just over a year. While we were dating, only Mayra was going faithfully to a Baptist church. Juan Carlos attended sporadically. After a period of time, we decided to get married according to what the churches standards. Juan still wasn't saved, but he was in agreement to get married.

We attended church together for 3 months, but we did begin to stray and backslide from God for various reasons. But after time God spoke to our heart about the need to be in church. We needed spiritual food! God sent a tract our way from another Baptist church not that far away a year earlier, that my dad had saved. We decided to look for this church. We had been out of church for close to a year. In the church we had been attending they still wanted to have us under church discipline.

I remember that we attended this new church one Sunday, we were so excited because it was a Baptist church, but not only that when we saw the Himnals they used and heard the preaching of the Pastor, I knew right away this was the church the Lord wanted us to be a part of. I give thanks to God, because that morning God spoke to us as a couple. We decided to attend that church (Living Hope Baptist Church) and it has been a huge blessing.

I give thanks to God that the pastor came to our home and my husband Juan Carlos accpeted Christ as his personal Savior and this coming week will be baptized.(Sunday April 26th) I am so thankful to God for forgiving us for our sin and especially my sin of uniting in an unequal yoke. God saw fit to work in my husband's life and He loves us so much to forgive us and now we can have a Christian home and be in equal yoke. That is amazing to me!

Since we have been attending the Hope Baptist Church, we have become very happy to go out door to door witnessing. In the other church they did not go door to door seeking people, which was one of the reasons my parents and I were a little uncomfortable. My (Mayra) Parents also are with us and it is a great joy to be involved . I am able to take the little children on Sunday nights while the pastor preaches. We are also going to be helping the pastor with the special kids day activities the church is planning in 2 weeks.
